OpenAI to face Indian news firms of Ambani, Adani in copyright battle, documents show

Reuters has dominated coverage of OpenAI’s growing legal challenges in India, one of its biggest markets outside the United States by users. On Monday, Reuters was first to report that Digital news units of Indian billionaires Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani were joining proceedings against OpenAI for improperly using copyright content.

Last week, Reuters revealed that Indian book publishers and their international counterparts had also joined forces to go against the ChatGPT creator in India, the latest in a series of global cases against the AI giant.

Reuters was also ahead in reporting that OpenAI told the Indian court in a confidential filing that any order to remove training data powering its ChatGPT service would be inconsistent with its legal obligations in the United States.
