Trump agrees to two-week Iran ceasefire, drops threat to destroy ‘whole civilization’

Reuters was first to report that Pakistan’s prime minister Shehbaz Sharif had presented a ceasefire proposal to U.S. President Donald Trump and that Tehran was “positively reviewing” the request. Reuters was also ahead when Trump announced on Tuesday that he had agreed to a two-week ceasefire. 

 Oil plummeted on Wednesday, falling below $100 a barrel, on hopes of the Strait of Hormuz reopening. About 20% of the world’s daily oil supply passes through the narrow waterway.
